Terms of Service
Last updated: 5 October 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and pawprintf ltd ("we", "us" or "our") for your use of the Compound app on iOS and Android, the website at compound.fyi and related services (together, "Compound"). By creating an account or using Compound, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use Compound.
1. Who we are
pawprintf ltd is a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16423381), registered office: Office 12595, 182-184 High Street North, East Ham, London E6 2JA, United Kingdom. You can contact us at [email protected].
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal information.
2. Compound
Compound publishes one new audio episode every day, with a transcript, on a wide range of subjects. There is a free version and a paid subscription, Compound+.
- Free: the day's episode, selected free episodes from the library, and short audio ads before episodes.
- Compound+: the full library of past episodes, listening without ads, and downloads for offline listening.
We regularly add and improve features and may change or remove some. If a change significantly reduces what Compound+ includes, we will tell you in advance, and you can cancel your subscription.
3. Your account
- You must be at least 18 years old to create an account and use Compound.
- Please give accurate account information and keep your password secure. You are responsible for what happens under your account, and your account is for you alone.
- Tell us straight away at [email protected] if you think someone else has accessed your account.
4. Compound+ subscriptions
Buying
Compound+ is sold through the Apple App Store and Google Play, and your purchase is processed by Apple or Google under their own terms. The price, in your local currency, is shown in the app before you buy. Prices vary by country and depend on your App Store or Google Play country.
Free trial
New subscribers may be offered a free trial; its length is shown before you start it. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, your subscription starts automatically at the end of the trial and you are charged the price shown. On the App Store, you need to cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends. Each App Store or Google Play account can have one free trial.
Renewal
Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or yearly), and you are charged for the next period, unless you cancel. On the App Store, you need to cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
Cancelling
You can cancel at any time in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings. You keep Compound+ until the end of the period you have paid for. Deleting the app or your Compound account does not cancel your subscription; please cancel it through the store.
Price changes
If we change the price of Compound+, we will tell you in advance. The new price applies only as Apple's and Google's rules allow, and you can cancel before it takes effect.
Refunds
Because Apple and Google process all payments, refund requests are handled by them under their refund policies: through reportaproblem.apple.com for the App Store, or your Google Play order history for Google Play. This does not affect your legal rights (see section 10).
Downloads
Downloaded episodes are for offline listening while you have Compound+. They stop playing if your subscription ends, are removed when you sign out, and need the app to connect to the internet from time to time to confirm your subscription. We may limit the number of downloads per device.
5. Using our content
The episodes, transcripts, images, text, design, software and the Compound name and logo are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to listen to and read Compound content in the app, for your own non-commercial use, while you follow these terms.
You can share episodes using the app's share feature. You may not copy, download (other than through the app's download feature), record, redistribute, sell, publicly broadcast or perform, or create works from Compound content without our written permission. Images are credited to their photographers and are used under their own licences.
6. Educational content
Compound is for general education and interest. Episodes may contain errors or omissions or become out of date, and they are not professional advice. You use Compound content at your own risk. Nothing in Compound is medical, legal, financial or other professional advice; please consult a qualified professional before acting on anything you hear. Episodes may mention third-party products, people or organisations without endorsing them.
7. Your feedback
If you rate an episode, write a comment or send us suggestions, you keep ownership of what you write. You give us a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to use it to operate and improve Compound. Please don't submit anything unlawful, offensive or that infringes anyone else's rights.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- copy, scrape or systematically collect content or data from Compound, including with automated tools, or use it to build a collection, database or service;
- get around any feature that limits access to Compound+ content or downloads;
- decompile, reverse engineer or modify the app, except where the law allows it;
- access Compound in a way that sends more requests than a person could reasonably make, or that disrupts or places an undue burden on Compound or its networks;
- try to gain unauthorised access to any part of Compound, other accounts or our systems;
- share your account or sell access to it;
- upload viruses or other harmful code; or
- use Compound for anything unlawful or fraudulent, or to harass, threaten or mislead us or others.
9. Availability, suspension and ending these terms
We aim to keep Compound available at all times, but it may sometimes be unavailable, for example during maintenance or because of problems outside our control.
You can stop using Compound at any time and can delete your account in Settings. We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms, if we reasonably suspect fraud or abuse, or if we have to for legal reasons.
If we decide to stop providing Compound altogether, we will give you reasonable notice and stop renewals of Compound+.
When your account is deleted, we keep your email address and a record of when you accepted these terms and our Privacy Policy, and which versions, for up to six years. We keep this only to meet our legal obligations and to establish or defend legal claims, as explained in our Privacy Policy.
10. Your legal rights
If you are a consumer, nothing in these terms affects your legal rights. In the UK, for example, the Consumer Rights Act 2015 requires digital content to be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality, and if it isn't, you may be entitled to a repair, replacement or refund. Consumers in the EU and elsewhere also keep the mandatory protections of the law where they live.
11. Limits on our liability
- Compound is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we make no promises about Compound other than those in these terms. In particular, we don't promise that it will always be available or free of errors, that it will meet your particular needs, or that its content is complete, accurate or up to date.
- To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for: loss or damage that was not reasonably foreseeable when you accepted these terms; delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control; any business losses, such as lost profit, revenue or business opportunity (Compound is for personal, non-commercial use); or decisions you make or actions you take based on Compound content.
- To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for all claims relating to Compound is limited to the amount you paid for Compound+ in the 12 months before the claim.
- These limits do not apply to liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law, and they do not affect your legal rights as a consumer (see section 10).
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example to reflect changes to Compound or the law. If we make significant changes, we will tell you in the app or by email before they take effect. If you don't agree with the changes, you can stop using Compound and cancel your subscription.
13. Disputes and governing law
If you have a problem, please contact us first at [email protected] so we can try to resolve it informally.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts. If you live in the EU or elsewhere, you keep any mandatory protections of the law where you live and may bring proceedings in your local courts where that law allows.
14. If you downloaded Compound from the Apple App Store
- These terms are between you and pawprintf ltd, not Apple. We, not Apple, are solely responsible for the app and its content.
- Your licence to use the app is limited to Apple-branded products that you own or control, as allowed by the Usage Rules in the App Store Terms of Service.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app.
- If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any) for the app. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the app; any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses attributable to any failure to conform to a warranty are our responsibility, to the extent they are not excluded by these terms.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims relating to the app or your use of it, including product liability claims, claims that the app fails to conform to any legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection, privacy or similar laws.
- If a third party claims that the app or your use of it infringes their intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, are responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement and discharge of that claim.
- You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated by the US Government as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- You must comply with any applicable third-party terms when using the app, such as your mobile carrier's terms.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and, once you accept them, Apple will have the right to enforce them against you as a third-party beneficiary.
15. General
- These terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between you and us about Compound.
- If a court finds part of these terms invalid, the rest stays in effect.
- If we don't enforce a right straight away, we can still enforce it later.
- We may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms to another organisation, for example if our business is sold; this will not reduce your rights. You may not transfer your rights under these terms without our permission.
- Apart from Apple as described in section 14, no one else has any rights under these terms.
- We may send you notices about Compound and these terms electronically, in the app or by email.
